Go green! Go public transport!
Weellll, as our dear government tries to get more Singaporeans to make use of public transport And with our optimistic transport minister targetting to get 70% of our morning peak hour trips to be made on public transports... Let me just share A Day in the Life of Me- The travelling undergrad, where sometimes travel time equals school time. Haha...
Today's journey was rather different.. Well, bar the long daily snaking queues for the campus bus (since that was always a given). It was the rides on our ever efficient MRT today that stood out. Being e-learning week for my course of study, I got to enjoy the luxury of viewing the recorded lectures online, At My Own Time of course. My tutorials however were per normal but with the whole embrace technology thingy the uni is advocating, I got to wake up later than normal. Anyway, long story short, i thought i had beat the morning rush hour crowd when I was waiting the train a little past 9am. Apparently I was wrong. It's still peak hour. The highlight of the ride to varsity was this 50-ish chinese male who begun to curse our government and the way things were done halfway throught the journey. He was sane alright and definitely not a crazy destitute. He kept cursing and cursing. everything from fuck this fuck that, CPF this, rising hospital bills that. I guessed he was some overworked guy, just finished his shift and probably very frustrated. Some passengers were tickled but I was damm sian la... Knn.. Mugging for 2 quizs the night before and cant even get my forty winks... The thing was, overworked guy would curse for a while then stop then let loose another outburst a few mins later. Oh man. Half the journey! Haha.. I mean if you got stuff to say, go speakers corner la! Write to forum la! Wah lau.. Tell early morning commuters for what?? ahha.. Eventually, I think someone got ticked off and told the SMRT staff cos 2 smrt staff boarded the train and came to the specific cabin I was in and kept looking about, as if searching for the overworked guy. And as always, when the cat is on prowl the mouse lies low. Haha. Overworked guy was pretty quiet and alighted the next station. What an interesting journey..
The journey back was something more serious. I took an already delayed MRT towards home but all passengers were made to alight a few stops later, the train driver citing train faults at the next stop. After another long wait(15-20mins), the accumulating crowd packed themselves into the train. Upon arrival of the next stop I saw police lines taped across half of the mrt station and alot of policemen and SMRT staff all over the station. Upon arrival home, a quick check on Channel News Asia webbie revealed a man was hit by a train and killed at that MRT station. Oh man... There was a similar case 2 weeks ago... I do hope some initiative gets carried out to prevent further similar cases.
ok this post is spluttering out... difficult to crap after such news.
Had an epiphany at 1:14 am.
